New vRealize Automation v6.2 ICM class page
Recently, I have been busy preparing to teach an online vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.2] course and working with clients on SDDC/Automation projects. As a result, I have been looking at VMware resources for class and customers and have put together a page with the items referenced in the student manual and other useful links. Among the usual items like the online documentation and KB articles, VMware has excellent product walkthroughs and free elearning courses. The vRealize Automation 6.2 Install, Configure and Manage class resources page is here.
VMware KB: Configure a Cluster in vRealize Orchestrator
VMware KB: Running data collection on a new VMware vRealize Orchestrator endpoint in VMware vRealize Automation fails with the error: Full authentication is required to access this resource
This KB article is just one more indicator that you should use lower case for names and addresses for the components of vRealize Automation. I have spent more time than with customers troubleshooting issues related to mixed case host names, dns records, etc.
Do yourself a favor: standardize on lowercase names!
VMware KB: Reinstalling the VMware vRealize Automation Identity Appliance or vCenter Server SSO makes tenants inaccessible
VMware KB: Certificate Troubleshooting, Supportability, and Trust Requirements for vRealize Automation 6.2
VMware KB: User Name and Password fields does not appear on the vRealize Automation login page
VMware KB: User Name and Password fields does not appear on the vRealize Automation login page.
This problem is between the vRealize Automation 6.2 Client integration plug-in and recent versions of Firefox.
As a workaround, you may be able to move the horizontal scroll bar, causing the screen to be redrawn, thus revealing the username and password input boxes.
Internet Explorer 11 appears to be pretty well behaved and the latest versions of Chrome also work well, though the Flash components may be old.
VMware KB: Configuring syslog server for VMware NSX for vSphere 6.x controllers
VMware KB: Configuring syslog server for VMware NSX for vSphere 6.x controllers.
This is an interesting KB article. Please notice that the method for configuration is an API call! This is built for automation!
FYI, You configure the NSX Manager appliance to use a syslog server with a web browser.
Select “Manage Appliance Settings”
On the Settings > General page, click the edit button in the Syslog Server portion of the page.
Enter the DNS name or IP address of your Syslog server, then click OK.
